Diving tower and pontoon at Isaberg – a guaranteed hit in the summer heat

When the sun is shining and the temperature rises, few things beat a refreshing dip in the lake. That’s why we’re especially happy to have delivered a diving tower and a swimming pontoon to Isaberg Mountain Resort – a place that truly invites the best summer days.

It wasn’t long before the diving tower got its first use. As soon as the installation was complete, children eagerly climbed up and jumped into the cool water, their big smiles and joyful shouts filling the air. This is exactly how we want our facilities to be used – for play, activity, and memories that last.

Isaberg is already a well-known destination, but with the new diving tower and pontoon, the swimming area becomes an even bigger attraction, especially for families with children. There is something for everyone – swimming, cycling, kayaking, adventure trails, and beautiful nature. It’s a perfect place for both day trips and longer vacations.

At Floattech, we are proud to help create accessible, safe, and fun water environments across Sweden. And sometimes, as here, we also get the chance to deliver something that becomes a true summer memory for both young and old.

EasyFloat Work Barge – the Key to a Successful Renovation on Stinsö

For the renovation of the log cabin on Stinsö, a small island in Lake Allgunnen, logistics and transport to the island were crucial for the success of the project. Aron Axelsson and Josef Erlandsson used a Floattech work barge to transport building materials and demolition waste between the mainland and the island. The barge, capable of carrying a two-ton load, became an indispensable tool for efficiently moving materials throughout the renovation period, despite challenging weather conditions such as wind and cold.

It wasn’t always possible to operate – strong winds or adverse weather often forced trips to be canceled. But while the bad weather kept the team from working, the barge continued doing its job around the clock, staying in the water no matter how severe the conditions. This robustness clearly demonstrates why Floattech’s work barge is a reliable solution even in tough conditions.

When the weather allowed, the barge was a perfect solution for keeping the renovation on schedule. Operations with the barge were also carefully planned, with each trip crucial for transporting the right materials at the right time and minimizing unnecessary trips.

For a closer look at how the work barge and other logistical solutions contributed to the success of the renovation, you can read the full article here: Sävsjöappen – De tog sig an utmaningen att renovera på ön.

Customer story with sauna float

First dock installed in 2017

In the summer of 2017, we were contacted by Peter Johansson. Peter runs a grocery store in Forsheda and at the time also lived in the area with his family. Their property in Sunnerö, on Lake Bolmen, was still just a summer home. The family has a strong interest in outdoor activities and wanted to improve access to the lake by installing a bathing and boat dock. In July, we delivered a 12-meter-long EasyFloat© pontoon dock, which Peter and his family installed themselves.

The summer home becomes a permanent residence

We were delighted when Peter reached out again in the spring of 2020. He was happy with the now three-year-old EasyFloat© pontoon dock and wanted to extend it. Done and dusted – the dock was extended by 7.2 meters. As the final addition, Peter chose to add a platform that provides a generous area to relax on. Peter explained that the summer home had now become the family’s permanent residence. “I also have more ideas,” he continued. One of them is to get a sauna float. “I’ll get in touch when I’ve thought it through,” he concluded.

The crowning touch

Peter didn’t hesitate. Before the end of the year, he had decided on a sauna float measuring 4.2 meters wide and 6.0 meters long. The sauna was ordered from Polhus, with delivery to our factory in Värnamo. We adapted the float’s fittings, after which the sauna and float were delivered to the Johansson family in Sunnerö.

Once the float was installed at the shore together with Peter, the project was complete on our end. The Johansson family then took over and finished the sauna float themselves.

This is just one of many enjoyable projects we’ve had the privilege to be part of. We thank Peter and his family for a great collaboration and congratulate them on an excellent result. The photos speak for themselves, don’t they?

Winter storage EasyFloat

A major advantage of EasyFloat© is that it is very lightweight. It weighs only a fraction of what traditional wooden docks weigh. This makes it easy to install in the spring and remove in the autumn without the use of heavy machinery. If you live in a warm climate where ice does not pose a risk, you may prefer to keep your dock in the water year-round. Otherwise, we recommend taking the following steps each year to ensure many worry-free years of use.

  • Cleaning
The easiest way to clean your EasyFloat is with a pressure washer, or alternatively with a stiff brush, water, and common cleaning agents. Deposits of snails and algae under the dock may need to be scraped off first with a spatula or similar tool.

  • Visual inspection
Check that no damage has occurred to the dock and that no screws or accessories are loose.

  • Storage and drainage
To prevent the float’s volume and shape from being affected by temperature changes, it is equipped with very small air holes. The holes are located on both short sides of the float along the long edges of the dock. Because the float can “breathe,” very small amounts of condensation may accumulate inside. The dock can therefore be stored upright so that any condensation drains through the air holes. Alternatively, you can stand the dock on its side for a few minutes and then store it lying flat.

Drain your dock on its side for a few minutes, ideally when removing it from the water.

Our pile driver makes it easy

In the past, posts were driven into the water using a regular sledgehammer. This was cumbersome, as you first had to stand on a stool to reach the top, with an obvious risk of falling into the water. It was also easy to damage the end of the post, which could lead to injury.

With our pile driver, the job becomes effortless. You stand safely on the dock and simply drive the post down by moving the two rubber-coated handles up and down. Watch the video below to see just how easy it is to install EasyFloat©.

EasyFloat© floating docks at all bathing areas in Bollebygd Municipality

Bollebygd Municipality now has EasyFloat© floating docks at all seven of its bathing areas, with the delivery to Vannasjön being the cherry on top.

For 12 years, Bollebygd Municipality has been replacing all of its traditional wooden docks with EasyFloat© floating docks. The municipality has also invested in an EasyTrail© accessibility ramp, making swimming accessible to even more residents.

A wonderful tradition

It has been 12 fantastic years for us as a supplier. We’ve had the pleasure of visiting Ewa Andersson and her team on many occasions. This has created a popular tradition of barbecues whenever the docks are installed in the spring and taken out in the fall.

We’ve had the privilege of enjoying several of these occasions. This year, when the docks at Vannasjön were installed, we at Floattech took the opportunity to handle the barbecue ourselves. We want to thank Ewa and her wonderful team for a great collaboration so far.

At Annevik, an idyllic spot by Lake Helga, OMS-fritid, which provides leisure activities for people with disabilities, has long been active. This summer, they ran a four-week program with daily activities. During the final week of summer events, they took the opportunity to inaugurate the new beach wheelchair and the 38-meter-long accessibility ramp, designed to make it easier for people with mobility challenges to enjoy the water on warm days.

“Now you don’t have to hold onto a rope – you can go straight onto a nice ramp!” were the words spoken as the ribbon was cut during the inauguration of the new ramp and beach wheelchair at Annevik.

Large orders to Hungary and the Netherlands

Floattech has operated in the international market for many years. We are experienced in delivering and installing our docks all over the world. This year, we are particularly excited, as we have managed to win two major contracts on two different continents, each with completely different applications.

In February, we won a public tender in Hungary. It was our largest order to date. Naturally, we celebrated being chosen as the winner in an international competition, earning the trust to deliver docks for rowing and canoeing to Hungary’s stadium in Szeged. The order was valued at SEK 3.1 million and included manufacturing, delivery, and installation.

Barely back from Hungary, we secured another major order, this time to the Netherlands. The order for 1,620 square meters of dock was formally awarded on June 15th and fully delivered by July 30th, in complete accordance with the contract. The end customer, the City of Amsterdam, will renovate the city’s seven major bridges over a three-year period. The docks will be used as mobile work platforms. The order value amounts to SEK 3.3 million.

Development

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OF EASYFLOAT© FLOATING DOCKS

Since the launch of our EasyFloat© dock 23 years ago, we have steadily increased sales. In Europe, sales have also picked up pace – something we find incredibly exciting. But we know we can do even more.

Continuous improvements
No product is so good that it cannot be improved. That is why we are constantly working on the development of both the dock and its accessories. We do this methodically, with experienced staff and modern technology.

From idea to finished component
We create computer models of ideas, which are then printed on a 3D printer. The printed model can be practically tested for fit and assembly. We also perform strength calculations in a computer environment. The challenging part of these calculations is assessing the forces the component will be subjected to. For this reason, we always test newly developed components in our test facility.

Here, we design the model in CAD and then print it on our 3D printer.

test-easyfloat.jpg

Tough stresses in our test facility

Our test facility is located a few kilometers from our factory in Värnamo. Here, newly developed products are put to the test all year round. Of course, they face wear and tear from bathers during the summer, but the real challenges come from autumn and spring storms—not to mention the forces from ice as it breaks up in the spring.

Hjälmsjö Arena modernized

We have been entrusted with delivering launching docks to Hjälmsjö Arena in Örkelljunga. The facility is being modernized with two EasyFloat© floating docks, each 18 meters long and 3.6 meters wide.

The docks will be installed at Örkelljunga’s rowing and canoe club to promote water sports, but they also provide cultural opportunities—for example, there is an idea to connect the docks and have an orchestra perform for the residents of Örkelljunga.

Ulf Andersson, Vice Chairman of Hjälmsjö Arena, explains why they chose EasyFloat© floating docks from Floattech Sweden AB:

  • “EasyFloat is ideal for rowing and canoeing because it is low and stable.”

  • “The rubber fender on the edge of the dock prevents damage to boats.”

  • “EasyFloat is a flexible and lightweight dock that can be moved easily.”
